Thursday Thirteen
|
1. UT - OH … Julia’s new favorite words. Everything is an ut-oh to her, and that’s so damn cute. 2. Kansas City, here I come. Only three days left until Julia and I hightail it and get outta here. Only 3 more days until we see super hunky hubba hubby again … along with the rest of the family. Only 3 more days until I get to travel across 1.5 states with a 1 year old and a large U-Haul trailer behind us. Only 3 more days for me to figure out how I’m going to pee at a Conoco in nowhere-Kansas with an over-active 1 year old. 3. Nobody wants our house yet. That’s probably the most nerve-racking thing about all of this… is selling the house. But, I’m not surprised, we knew it would be. The first week it was listed, we had 4 looky-loos … but no interest was shown. Now, it’s been about 3 weeks and nobody has even called our realtor to inquire about it. That’s depressing. 4. I love my in-laws. I’m looking forward to getting spoiled and pampered by their unconditional love and my MIL’s cooking. I’m looking forward to having someone else around to change Julia’s diaper once in a while. I’m looking forward to getting to know my SIL and BIL better .. and spending more time with their kids. I’m also looking forward to exploring and learning about a whole ‘nother state and city and town and neighborhood. 5. That said, I hope we don’t have to live with the in-laws for very long. I can’t say enough nice things about them, but it’s always been nice having our own house - our own territory to dawdle in and raise a kiddo in. I pray that our house sells quickly so we can get situated right away in our new home. 6. Yesterday sucked. I had seven kids total at one time… a 4 month old, Julia, a 2 year old (former) biter, a 2 year old “fearful child” a 4 year old full-of-energy-all-of-the-time little boy, a 5 year old boy with speech problems and a 9 year old precocious little girl. I almost lost my mind. Luckily it was only that full of a house for an hour or so (a couple got picked up early). But, still. Add those kiddos to cleaning/packing/moving your house and you are awarded with a tight littel knot between your shoulder blades. Do you feel sorry for me, yet?? 7. For the record, potty training in a house that is “supposed” to be ready to be shown by realtors is very frustrating. 8. I’m looking forward to watching Survivor tonight in the company of my half-eaten pint of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. MommaK, like it or not - my vote is that you keep up the re-caps! 9. Tomorrow’s Friday. That means that tomorrow is the last day for all my childcare kiddos to be here. It’s bitter sweet. Yes, I’m counting down the hours - but at the same time, I expect a lot of sad tears as I have to say goodbye to some great kiddos that I’ve gotten to know. 10. Last night’s testimony on the stand sucked. Need I say more? 11. I have a job waiting for me out in Kansas. I will be a lead teacher in a preschool classroom - that is, if I take the job. It seems like a good preschool … but that’s not what I’m totally concerned about. I told my possibly-future-employer that everything concerning my hire is negotiable (salary, benefits, etc) except that I must be able to take Julia with me to work. The director said that they don’t have any openings in the 1 year-old room right now but that she’ll “see what she can do.” I told her not to hire me officially until there is a spot for Julia. The job is just that - a job. It’s not going to be my career, and I don’t plan on sticking around there long … it’s just some income to help us out until we get a house that is suitable for me to (once again) open for business. 12. Our good friend from church had a SIL out in Cancun on vacation during Hurricane Wilma. I was happy to learn yesterday that SIL and family are okay and are expected to be able to fly home on Thursday (hey! thats today!). God is great. 13. The autumn leaves are gorgeous. I absolutely love this season. I really enjoy the days when it’s about 65 out, and breezy enough for the leaves to get blown from the trees, but still warm enough for a light jacket. I’m really going to miss gazing at the top of Pikes Peak - snow capped and gorgeous - from the backyard. There’s something magical about seeing snow on top of the mountain from almost anywhere in the city … and still enjoying 70 degree weather with family. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful relationship with your inlaws.
And your career choice? Wow, all I can say is I admire those of you who choose to care for other people’s little ones, because I can barely manage my own.
Here is my thirteen:

moving on your own with a little one, i don’t envy you, but, look at what you have once you reach your destination!!!
when we sold our last home, we were feeling the same way, no one seemed to want it. it took us exactly six weeks and one day to sell it, we got an offer out of no where it seemed. the average length of time we were told to sell our home was six weeks, we went one day over. don’t worry about your home, gear up for your trip.

Yikes, I hate moving! Good luck with all of that.
With 4 kids of my own, I often have 7-10 or more here when I’m babysitting. But they’re never all little ones. Way to go!
Here’s my 13 http://jenanddavin.blogspot.com/ I’ll run and link to you!
